As a professional labor doula, Tenáj's calm and confident demeanor lends to her ability to support a laboring woman find or hold onto her strength, courage, voice, and choices. It is truly an honor to support women and their partners in their decisions to labor and birth in the manner they feel is best suited for their birth experience without bias or judgment.
Tenáj's own experiences with pregnancy and birth, as well as those of family and friends, awakened her belief that all women should have the right to feel supported, to be encouraged and empowered to make informed decisions, and an opportunity to labor and birth in a manner that will leave them with positive feelings about their birth. Because of this belief, she decided to answer her call to "woman servanthood".
The path to birth work began for Tenáj in 2015 when she became a professionally trained Labor Doula. After taking a brief hiatus from doula work, she decided to return and continue on her journey. While Tenáj's professional journey began in 2015, her deep passion, study, and advocacy of birth work began in 2013 while pregnant with her third baby.
One of the most amazing moments for Tenáj as a doula was in 2015. She was hired by her sister-in-law and brother as their doula. What a validation that was for her! Not to mention the opportunity to witness and support her first incredibly beautiful homebirth with a midwife.
Tenáj currently lives in Pasadena with her husband of 13 years and three children. She is a homeschooling mother who loves Jesus, all things office supplies, planners, books, and coffee.
